I hold a Ph.D. In music theory from Yale University and currently teach Musicianship (music theory and aural skills) at Charleston Southern University and freelance with area orchestras.

I am currently researching harmonic and formal structures in pop/rock music, developing software for large-corpus studies. My interests also include other 20th- and 21st-century musics, music cognition, and music theory pedagogy. I am also an advocate of open access publishing and open source software, and am building an open-access, online, multimedia textbook for my musicianship courses.
