  • Title / Position: Graduate Student and Mellon Teaching Fellow
  • Organization: Emory University and Morehouse College

I am currently a doctoral candidate in the History Department at Emory University and a Mellon Teaching Fellow at Morehouse College. My dissertation, The Servant, The City, The Empire: Domestic Service and the Making of Colonial Dar es Salaam, 1919-1961, analyzes how African domestic servants enabled the rapid urbanization of colonial Dar es Salaam and both facilitated and challenged colonization in Tanzania. I regularly attend Emory’s Digital Scholarship Commons (DiSC) workshop series on technology and incorporating the digital humanities in the classroom. I am a DH beginner, but not a novice, and I am eager to learn more.
