My dissertation examined representations of enslaved persons at moments of patriotic spectacle in the latter half of the nineteenth century intersect key literary texts within visual print culture in transatlantic discourse; there are many online projects that have helped my work, and I'd like to explore how to create a digital presence that would add to them. I worked with the coeditor of Race in Children’s Literature of the Gilded Age, an online repository in development at Washington University in St. Louis that highlights and critiques certain forms of racism propagated in illustrations and objects associated with youth-oriented fiction at the turn of the nineteenth century.
