I stink at Galaga, but I was great at Pong back in the day. I teach English and a broad Introduction to Humanities course at Dalton State College. At 42, I may be outside the stereotypical age range for a campus technology ambassador, but that's what I've become. I'm the director of our QEP, and we've made technology a major part of the QEP's redesign of developmental English. I teach both traditional classes and online classes that I designed, and I present and publish on technology in the classroom. I started out programming in BASIC on a TRS-80 longer ago than I care to contemplate (let's just say the TRS-80 was new). My first real foray into digital technology in teaching was an early experiment in using Usenet for discussions in a composition class. I love learning new tricks and sharing them with colleagues and students, and the best moments are when one of them realizes that technology isn’t quite as scary as he or she thought. Most of my current interests lie in the area of technology as an aid to teaching and learning, but I’m endlessly fascinated by the potential for research and would like to learn more about what’s going on now.
